HHBC Launches Festival Space Project with ASP

11/22/2024

It's been a fun week at the HHBC! We had our first meeting with our engineering firm, American StructurePoint, to discuss the redesign of the Harmar Village Multi-Use Recreational Park - the areas most commonly used for our annual Harmar Days Festival Celebration. Our goal with the redesign is safety, accessability, and usability for our whole community.

The initial planning meeting included several members from the HHBC team, a group from ASP, and Marietta City Officials to begin the discussions for how best to utalize and transform the Harmar Village Park. HHBC Board Vice-President Jesse Roush says, "Bringing vision to life requires proper planning. Transforming our festival area into a fully accessible, multi-use recreational park will not only improve the Harmar Days Festival experience, but it also enables us to serve the community in many other ways. We took a big step towards realizing our vision by initiating this plan".

This kick-off meeting is the first of many that will take place over the next few months. Funding for these projects are most likely to come from multiple grant stacking tactics that will be available in Spring of 2025 with the goal of presenting designs to the full board as well as the public sometime in March of 2025.

Board President Derek Buell believes “Planning the design of our Harmar Days Festival space is a critical step along the path to integrating the Historic Harmar Bridge Company’s assets into local and regional transportation networks while providing an incredible asset that will serve local community.”

He would also like to thank our supporters and partners during this initiative. “Thank you to our planning partner, American Structurepoint, for kicking off the work with us today, both in person and from Columbus. We are especially grateful to Marietta Community Foundation for supporting this key part of our vision. We look forward to sharing our progress in the coming months”.

It is an exciting time to be at the Historic Harmar Bridge Company and we hope to share more exciting updates in the very near future!
