December 2024 & January 2025 in Review
January, 31 2025
The HHBC takes a break for the holidays, so this months' summary of activities will largely include both December 2024 & January 2025. Buckle up for some news:
- Our team tasked with the redesign of the Harmar Village Multi-Use Recreational Park met with our engineering team at American Structure Point two more times. We are closing in on having a great design to be able to present to the board and public in the next few weeks. This process was made possible by a $10,000 design grant from the Marietta Community Foundation. (MURPA Site Project)
- Plans for the 2025 Raffle are well underway and the biggest prizes have been purchased! Keep an eye out for more info on that soon.
- The RAISE grant we were pursuing in partnership with The County, City, and College through Connected Marietta is now known as BUILD (Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development), and was submitted this week!! They are going after the largest amount possible of $25 Milllion, of which, approximately 40% of these funds would be allocated to the Harmar Bridge Project. (Connected Marietta Initiative)
- We recently found out that we were not chosen for the $2 million ATIIP grant that we applied for that would get us through the design phase and able to apply for construction grants. While this is disappointing, this incredibly in depth grant process helped us build an extremely strong foundation for other grants that we have already been able to use. (ATIIP Grant Submission)
We have much more happening in the month of February and remain hopeful and positive! We knew the task of adaptive reuse for the Harmar Bridge would be a marathon, not a sprint, and we appreciate the community support we receive every step of the way. We will continue to update you as we go!
